Over 40 businesses have been identified in this area and approximately 6 non-profit groups. Volunteers are the heart of these rural communities and many of the services that residents enjoy exist because of the efforts of volunteers.

Bouchie Lake: Bouchie Lake is located approximately 13 km. west of the City of Quesnel across the Fraser River. It is accessed via Norwood Road which is the road adjacent to the Bouchie Lake Country Store. Bouchie is a popular fishing lake which has a number of full time residences. The lake can be accessed by a right-of-way which functions as a boat launch. The Bouchie Lake Community Association oversees the repairs and maintenance on the outhouse.
Milburn Lake: this lovely lake
Both Bouchie Lake and Milburn Lake are part of the Bouchie Lake Watershed. A Watershed Plan has been created by the Bouchie Lake Stewardship Group with support from the Baker Creek Enhancement Society. A copy of the plan can be viewed here.
Puntchesakut Lake: From Quesnel, cross over the Fraser River and head west on the Nazko Road for 35 km 21mi). The lake is on the south side of this good gravel road.
Tibbles Lake: Also known as Puntataenkut Lake. It is accessed via Tibbles Road and is located about 6.5 km. (4 mi.) west of Puntchesakut Lake. This 279 ha. / 690 acre lake reaches a maximum depth of 14.9 m. / 49 ft. and is home to both Rainbow Trout and Char.

Hangman Spring Trails:
Hangman Springs Trail is a network of multi-use trails used mainly by mountain bikers, ATV users, and horseback riders. The 20 kilometre trail system navigates mostly forests with some single track and dirt jumps. The trails are located on Crown Land and managed by the Baker Creek Endurance Riders. The highlight of the trails are the very scenic views along Baker Creek. The Trail network is best accessed from Nazko Road located west of Quesnel.
Puntchesakut Lake Provincial Park
Puntchesakut Lake Provincial Park is comprised of approximately 38 hectares of gently rolling aspen forest. Located on the east side of Puntchesakut Lake, the park offers 1200 metres of waterfront, including a beautiful stretch of sandy beach and is easily accessible from Quesnel.
Most recreation activities are lake oriented. Angling for trout in the spring and fall is perhaps the most popular pursuit, with anglers often catching trout up to 3 lb in size. Other activities include swimming, sunbathing, canoeing, boating, and water skiing. The park is also popular for picnicking. Hunting is not permitted in Puntchesakut Lake Provincial Park.
